The Department of State Visa bulletin for February 2012 is showing a full year of advancement in the employment-based second categories for natives of China and India. This is the largest advance yet, and the second month in a row showing significant movement in these categories. As we advised previously, those born in India or China with priority dates prior to January 1, 2010 should contact an attorney and prepare their adjustment applications quickly in order to be able to file before the end of February 2012. It is possible the numbers will retrogress significantly in the near future. All other employment-based categories will enjoy slow and steady movement during February, with the exception of Other Workers from China, which will remain at April 22, 2003.
Family-based categories show more lively movement in February, with many groups moving ahead by at least a month. Those in F1, unmarried sons and daughters of U.S. citizens, move ahead by 9 weeks, except for natives of Mexico and the Philippines. Similarly, F2A, spouses and children of permanent residents, move ahead by 6 weeks for every group. The only group with no movement in February is F2B, Mexico.
